Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02cm) in height overall consisting of a maroon demi-sun with eleven gold rays upon a blue background rising above a horizontal green mountain range; all above a field divided in half vertically blue on left and white on right with three white bars crossing, their colors counterchanged, and inclosed with a semicircular maroon scroll inscribed "DEVOTION AND CARE" in gold letters, and overall at center a maroon cross.

Symbolism
Maroon is the color associated with the Army Medical Corps. The sun and rays allude to the ancient belief in the healing powers attributed to the sun, and with the mountains are part of a landscape representing Panama, the unit's home area. The counterchanged blue and white wavy bars suggest the canal and its link between the world's two major oceans. The maroon cross is a traditional symbol of mercy and suggests the unit's mission and motto.

The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 23 Aug 1982.
